I am also using USB based SIM holder.
However, the USB card installs itself as a modem.

I use Messagebird, they convert mails to SMS messages. SMS sending is as simple as mail sending and the service is cheap and you do not need an GSM hardware and and subscription. Also you receive confirmations by mail ! You can try it for free !

I use SMS EXPRESS, It is program integrated with auto install Dcom 3G. It is fine when I send sms from PC to mobile
But HMG SMS does't run. It does't detect modem.
I don't know how to repair

My PC is Win 8
I check port in Device Manager => Ports and set port for modem
