I want propose actention to idea of integrate the minigui4 in distribution
hmg have a very active comunity so will be usefull join effort
HMG have also a good documentation for gui command
share effort give a double advantage
Viltor have optimized the size of hbqt and a nigtly exe will be aivable without effort

At current stage of both projects, the only technical
issue is HMG project size (plus a few .bat in its tree).
Size is 3MB, 1.7MB of it are samples, actual lib
source code is smaller than hbxbp. So HMG is a light
lib and overall size isn't a big problem.

So it's rather a question of how would users and both
developer communities benefit from such merge? and
would they?

If users feel this area important, I'd propose to discuss
these points in this thread. Obviously such discussion
can only be worthy with Roberto and HMG authors.

I seriously doubt it will ever happen.
C programmers and clipper programmers never mix.

C programmers work in harbour as a super C lib. They are still thinking C when doing final apps. Generally they don't use GUI frameworks, cause they do server apps in console or deamon mode.
Clipper programmer use commands, use whatever gives'em more productivity (deliver fast), do care a lot about pretty interfaces and want assistance from its partners.

C programmers are locked into closed rooms isolated form real world resolving machines problems.
Clipper programmer go every day to their client's office, see what other people use and need, and resolve bussiness problems.

C programmers say they do not document anything cause you hace their c sources and a very long changelog to investigate yourself why things are like they are.
Clipper programmers document their .PRG sources and/or write A LOT of samples to make learning easy.

Despite it all, both kinds of programmers need each other and share a common beatifull tool: HARBOUR.

And that's the final difference. Harbour is a tool. HMG is a way of doing things.

HMG uses harbour cause, today, it is the best tool given our background. But is reserves is indenpendency cause is some day things get nasty with harbour, it could be done in Python just to name something.

Reality is: Roberto is tired and wants more developpers involved in HMG who understand the philosofy underneath.
And THOSE programmers will decide in the future wheter HMG needs integration with harbour or not.
