Problemas con Valid en un TextBox

Hola a todos...
Estoy usando el Valid en un TextBox, funciona bien. Pero tengo un problema al querer cerrar la ventana que contiene ese control.
Tengo por un lado el TextBox y por otro un boton que cierra la ventana. Lo que quiero hacer es que al presionar el boton que cierra la ventana no se ejecute el valid del TextBox, ya que el valid no me deja salir nunca. Creí que agregando el CANCEL a la definición del botón se solucionaría, pero no sólo no se soluciona sino que no se define la ventana y el programa se cierra sin dejar ningún rastro de error.
Si alguien sabe como solucionar este problema estaré agradecido.
