The only way to 'survive' this trend is to start your own business or (at least) be self-employed. If not, you should be lucky enough to find a job request not mentioning 'until 35 years old' mandatory requirement.

In a more serious note, i still believe that a "serious" programmer can offer a lot to a company. And by serious i mean : experienced, with lots of knowledge, determined with hunger for work.
I do think skills and mentality > age and all the companies know that .
