Recent happenings in the forum

Post by Rathinagiri »

Dear friends,

What I have seen today in the forum is a mess.

I am sorry for that.

This is my opinion not as an administrator of the forum but as a member of the forum:
There is a misunderstanding between a member and a moderator. Moderator thought that he has rights to modify all the posts in the interest of the forum/community. IMHO, doing so will indulge in curbing the freedom of the members even if it is in the interest of the forum. The simple reason is this. Moderators are not Gods. They are also human beings. Right for one person may be wrong for another person. So, unless otherwise some illegal or obscene material is posted moderators normally shouldn't have altered the posts of the posters. They can modify if they deem fit, ONLY with the consent of the posters. The posters have the right to ask not to modify his posts.
Members, please speak up regarding this matter. I will act as an administrator upon the opinions of you members.
East or West HMG is the Best.
South or North HMG is worth.
...the possibilities are endless.

Thank you, Rathi, for dealing with this head on.

I have been greatly saddened by the tone and the content of a few of the recent posts (just as I was when there was a similar outbreak a few months ago) and so I would hope that everyone will appreciate, as much as I do, your prompt and impartial actions to resolve this.

I am in 100% agreement with you that if there is something in a post that needs to be changed, then it should only be done with the consent (and the co-operation, whenever possible) of the person whose post is to be altered.

My opinion, for what it's worth.
Thanks again.

Hi, Serge.

I was surprised and upset to read your comment. Can you tell me why you are angry with me?

I believe that all I said was that I, like you, was upset and saddened by what has happened, and that I was glad that Rathi was making the effort to resolve the situation.

I am very sorry if something I wrote offended you, but I really can't see what it was. If you will explain, I will try very hard not to repeat such a mistake. And if you'd prefer to send it to me privately, that would be fine, too.

Again, my apologies.
Regards,
CalScot

WOW!!! That's a relief!!! I couldn't for the life of me, see what I'd done to make you angry.

I can fall asleep without worry, now. Thanks for the quick correction!!!

I agree with Rathi.
Some incomprehension may come from typo errors like above.
Almost all of us don't know English very well, google translator too :-D.
