Hi All,

Sometimes, our jobs take us to strange places...

I must to set up an IP PBX.

My choice was Asterisk, since is open and is the world wide standard.

It is related with HMG, since I'm sure that eventually I'll create some HMG application to control it

My question is the following:

Since we will use it, only for outgoing calls via a VOIP service, Do we need special hardware on the server?

Hello,

It is not necessary if you are using a VoIP provider for your outbond calls. You only need to create a SIP trunk between your server and the provider.

If it is not the case, you will connect your server to the public network and then you need some hardware to do that.

And... I've was looking for tutorials, but all stuff I've found was a little difficult for a beginner like me.

If you know about some simple getting started guide, it will be extremely useful for me.

What kind of starting guide are you looking for? If it is the parameters of the SIP trunk ask to your provider. He will send them to you.

Asterisk now includes FreePBX too.

It appears to be very easy to use. I'll try it.
