ReactOS and HMG

Post by Rathinagiri »

First I wish to congratulate ReactOS for getting the 'Project of the Month' title this month. (June, 2013)

For those who don't know about ReactOS:
ReactOS® is a free open source operating system based on the best design principles found in the Windows NT® architecture (Windows versions such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 are built on Windows NT architecture). Written completely from scratch, ReactOS is not a Linux based system, and shares none of the UNIX architecture.

The main goal of the ReactOS® project is to provide an operating system which is binary compatible with Windows. This will allow your Windows® applications and drivers to run as they would on your Windows system. Additionally, the look and feel of the Windows operating system is used, such that people accustomed to the familiar user interface of Windows® would find using ReactOS straightforward. The ultimate goal of ReactOS® is to allow you to use it as alternative to Windows® without the need to change software you are used to.
It is great that you can test the OS which is just 91 MB download along with emulator.

I had started the emulator and loaded one of my HMG applications and could run that application without any problem. It gives me great hope.

Hi Rathi and others:
I follow the ReactOS project from the draft stage compatible with Windows 95 which left alone on paper, in time started with some code and start to debug this project every day is a little bigger and I use it sometimes for FreeDOS Test also another project that gave me so much help.

I have tried only QEMU version. I will try to download and test Live CD version also.

I tried for dbf tables and sqlite tables. They are working fine. I didn't try to install MySQL server.
